“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” – Maya Angelou
As a child, Georgia’s favorite pastimes were playing baseball and helping out in her father’s grocery store. In fact, her baseball glove and bat were among her prized possessions—along with anything her grandchildren made for her.
Georgia expressed her creative talent and quirky personality in ways that were sometimes a tad unconventional. One time she, along with some of her grandchildren, built what turned out to be a fine clubhouse out of scraps. They dubbed it the “Scorpion’s Nest,” and it became their secret hideout. Georgia had the uncanny ability to make something great out of very little. Her favorite spot was near the back of her and her husband’s farm where Georgia would often build a small fire, make coffee, sit back and enjoy the view. It was her special place where her ashes will be buried.
One of Myra’s treasured memories was of swimming in the Hudson River near Kingston, New York, where she grew up. Her father would come home for lunch, and on his way back to work drop Myra and her friends off at the river for an afternoon of swimming; then, he’d pick them up on his way home. She had cherished memories of her many summer visits to her grandparents’ home a couple of blocks off the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, where she would swim in the community pool and meet young men.
Her Aunt Sylvia, who also lived in the Bronx, worked in Manhattan at Harrison’s Reports, a motion picture trade journal, where she wrote movie reviews. Myra, her grandmother, and her Aunt Sylvia would meet for lunch at Schrafft’s, where she would first choose her dessert before figuring out what else to eat. Among her favorite desserts were hot fudge sundaes and chocolate jelly rolls with ice cream and hot fudge syrup. Another NY city attraction was going to the movies with one of her several young beaux. There they could sit in the comfort produced by air that was blown across ice to cool the theater! And, on top of all of that, Myra’s grandmother allowed her to eat whatever she wanted, including frankfurters—a particularly big deal because her parents kept a kosher home.
What are the odds of a bride and groom being the oldest in their families, each with three younger siblings (all sisters), the bride sharing the exact birth date with one of the groom’s sisters, love of spending time with their respective families, and more? Well, they have all of that going for them and believe their love story was meant to be, and it’s no wonder!
Let’s hope the honeymoon has at least one funny story to equal the one from their engagement trip to Grand Cayman, when an older European woman stripped completely nude just feet in front of them, despite it not being a nude beach! Knowing these two and their love of laughter, they are bound to have some hilarious anecdotes to add to their love story over the years to come.
One thing is for sure…these two were meant to be.
